This Year’s Discovery ESG Summit Aims To Incorporate Strong Financial Performance Through Environment, Social And Governance.
Hon.Dr. Henry Kokofu-Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Boss, Dr. Patrick Baah-Acquah (PhD), finance and leadership consultant, Dr.Genevieve Duncan Obuobi, Lead Consultant, Tarragon Edge, Dr. victor Abbey, Leadership and Sustainability Expert other dignitaries blessed this year’s edition of Discovery ESG sustainability Leadership Summit which was organised by Discovery Leadership Master class in partnership with Tarragon Edge on Environmental, Social,and governance.
“The Theme for this year’s was Building Sustainability, Corporate Resilience and strong financial Performance Through ESG Compliance Framework ”which aims on how stakeholders can teem up with stronger commitments to highlight the opportunities and help minimize the threats associated with ESG.
The speakers highlighted on how we must tackle the earth’s environmental emergencies and human well invisible challenges.They urged consumers to transform our foods, water and energy systems to meet growing human needs in an equitable, resilient and environmentally friendly manner
According to UN 2019 reports, Humanity has altered 75 percent of land 66 percent of the marine environment . Also 2018 study also concluded that this degradation leads to loss of 2.5 percent of many economic output annually.Accra andmany cities in the world also experience pollution and waste.
The lead speakers delivering their speech at the summit, urged individuals not to leave these environmentalthreats to the government to solve rather we must take it as our sole responsibility.
“We cannot leave these threats all up to the government to solve.We need whole-of- society action for a whole-of -society problem. We all need to take responsibility,in every aspect of our work and professional lives,it can be difficult to make sustainable choices in a system and doesn’t encourage them”
“It can be difficult to refuse a good pay cheque on moral grounds when you need to put food on the table.We need to challenge ourselves to live a more holistic life by following green guiding principles in our work and personal lives” they added
The other speakers also voiced out that we are not being sustainability conscious and now is time for us to actually go back and avoid anything that is destroying the environment
They furthered that we have serious job to of work to do and we must not forget, amidst the focus on the climate crisis that is of what UN calls the triple planetary crisis of what climate change which include nature and biodiversity, pollution and waste.
The summit was hosted by Frank Adu Anim(Lead Consultant, Discovery Leadership )and Dr. Genevieve Duncan Obuobi(Lead Consultant,Tragon Edge), Dr. Victor Abbey(Leadership and Sustainability Expert)Dr. Patrick Baah-Acquah (Financial Analyst and consultant) and the Chief Executive Of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),Hon Dr. Henry KoKofu were speakers .
